Work Location: Remote to those in the EST and CST US time zones.


We are looking for an Engineering Manager, with a backend software engineering background, to join our Atlanta-based client’s growing Platform Operations group. This person will manage a team of DevOps Engineers, but you don’t have to be a DevOps professional yourself. As long as you have prior experience in backend development and also a few years of experience managing software engineers, you qualify.


In this role, you oversee the retention, growth, and performance of the DevOps Engineering Team. You would also collaborate with a cross functional team of product owners, engineers, designers, and our quality assurance team to help scale the platform while optimizing for cost, speed, and uptime.


This is a fantastic permanent, direct hire position with our Atlanta-based client. This is fully remote to those to those in the EST/CST US time zones. What you’ll be expected to do:

  • Responsible for the retention, growth, and performance management of the DevOps Engineers.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of quality implementations against product and engineering commitments, including assisting in planning what is committed to.
  • Executing on hiring & promotion, and other management-related activities.
  • Focus and motivate your team to support the delivery teams and scale our platform.
  • Support, mentor and guide the DevOps engineers on your team.
  • Work closely with your Product Manager to prioritize projects that align with company Objectives and Key Results (OKR).
  • Provide feedback and be clear about expectations to the team.
  • Translate organizational strategy into useful and actionable direction for your teams.
  • Keep engineering leadership apprised of important developments on your teams.
  • Support your team…ensure they feel, and are, included and valued.


Experience you’ll need to bring to the table:

  • 2-3 years of proven experience managing Software Engineers.
  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing projects in an Agile environment.
  • Fostering and leading diverse, healthy teams.
  • Understanding of development in an Agile environment, with a focus on fast cycle times and continuous deployment.
  • Building software where security and regulatory compliance are critical.
  • Experience working on a Software-as-a-Service products.


Bonus points for having:

  • Working knowledge of DevOps & SRE principles.
