Job description
Manages safety and laboratory compliance for agricultural research station. Provides data management and administrative support to scientists conducting research at Pee Dee REC. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Safety and Compliance: Chair of Pee Dee REC Safety committee. Provides oversight of safety and compliance as outlined by university policy including updating SDS files, purchasing and maintaining supplies for safe handling of chemicals, conducting safety and compliance training. Maintains a safe work environment and assists with chemical safety and compliance issues. Coordinates with Research Safety for programs and services as needed or requested.
30% - Essential - Administrative Support: Develops and implements procedures and training related to compliance with applicable regulations for health and safety. Creates related manuals, documents, standard operating procedures, web pages and maintains applicable records.
5% - Essential - Administrative Support: Assists other Research and Education Centers with their safety programs and training upon request.
5% - Essential - Reporting: Maintains required documentation and records.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
