Why does the job exist?
This position assists the Oil Conservation Division's (OCD) Environmental Bureau to ensure OCD goals and objectives are met. This position primarily will assist with the review of environmental assessment, remediation, and monitoring activities related to oil and gas activities in New Mexico. In addition, this position will be required to carry out field investigation and compliance actives. This position will also assist the Environmental Bureau administrative permitting program by processing applications and permits including: release notifications and corrective actions, remediation and closures, and other soil/groundwater abatement plans. This position will have the expertise to: help coordinate and implement OCD programs to ensure that they meet legal requirements; help advise senior management on legal and management issues, policies and rules, and have in-depth familiarity with the Oil and Gas Act and Rules and the Water Quality Act and Rules, that govern the OCD's Environmental Bureau.

Processing and evaluating environmental assessment, remediation, and monitoring activities and report, and performing field inspections of regulated oil and gas operations in New Mexico.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and five (5) years of experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources. Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
