Overview:
The Pillar Consultant has primary responsibility for supporting project progression in adherence with central Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) processes and guidelines. The Pillar Consultant will provide day-to-day support to the Pillar Lead and Pillar Project Owners, acting as the primary liaison between EPMO and the Pillar Lead. They will partner with the EPMO to ensure consistent and standard processes, including project reporting and documenting requirements for project progression.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
- Serve as the primary EPMO representative within the Pillar
- Accountable to the EPMO for ensuring pillar and project structures and reporting are in line with the EPMO guidelines, practices, tools and processes
- Accountable for sharing of information as well as required education and training of revised guidelines, practices, tools and processes
- Serve as an SME on EPMO tools/tracking mechanism(s)
- Accountable for issue escalation and issue resolution and deliverable/product maintenance and storage/recording aligned with best practice expectations
- Partners with other key players in the EPMO including OCM Practitioner, Associate Consultants and Shared Services Liaisons to coordinate project requirements/resources, achieve outcomes and ensure success at the project level
- Support EPMO meetings (weekly)
- Before the meeting: Pull EPMO trackers, Write EPMO comments, Issue meeting materials and print trackers, brief EPMO Lead on issues/update (as needed)
- During the meeting: Take follow up actions, serve as thought partner in probing problem rationale (e.g., questions to push problem solving, clarifications)
- After the meeting: Send out action trackers and update actions in selected tool, follow-up with team on actions and provide guidance on small issues, summarize key takeaways from EPMO meetings, communicate in a structured, top down manner, produce documents of the highest presentation quality
- Support Pillar Lead, project delivery, and reporting
- Continuously identify project roadblocks or delays, define actions needed to unblock and follow-up to ensure “course correction” problem solving as needed to drive value
- Act as a problem-solving partner for Pillar Lead as they seek to identify new projects and generate greater impact, faster
- Break down organizational barriers to collaboration to ensure maximum value delivered
- Attend and actively participate in Pillar meetings and support Pillar Lead in creating and driving agenda content
- Support Pillar Lead with day-to-day management and execution against the overall project plan and ensuring standard EPMO processes and guidelines are followed
- Support Project Owners and Organizational Leaders in partnership with Associate Consultants, project delivery, and reporting
- Support high priority projects and Project Owners in driving productive project meetings and project progression

- Partner with organizational leaders in a consultative nature to provide leadership to project resources in a manner that ensures timely delivery on commitments/tasks in support of broader project deliverables
- Work effectively with business partners, vendors and staff to develop agendas and project plans that include agreement/adoption of project objectives/deliverables by affected constituencies
- Serve as a resource partner for required data/analysis needs, presentations and reports
- Serve as key resource, working closely with the finance analyst and IT/analytics on data reporting, data analysis, and data interpretation for projects ensuring standard EPMO guidelines/processes are followed
- Develop reports: Understand business need and data sources to provide answers to the relevant questions; structure and automate reports to minimize the time required to repeat the analysis
- Maintain reports and data: Ensure adherence to central guidelines and processes; modify and reconcile reports when underlying data structures change; use judgement to exclude outlier projects that skew reporting
- Design and prepare presentations and reports that provide leadership and key stakeholders with summarized data trends and progress toward achieving goals
- Problem-Solve ad-hoc issues
- Provide ad-hoc problem solving and work with key stakeholders to drive issues to resolution in: Development of targets, development of EPMO rules
of engagement, reconciliation with actual financials or other sources, identifying communication needs and developing communications drafts

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
- 5 years experience of defining, managing and delivering business change programs and/or related project progression
- Positive and proactive process management with an eye for detail and a strong challenger mentality
- Adept at problem solving, with sound business judgment and strong analytical skill
- Ability to work effectively in a high pace environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Insatiable curiosity for more value (how do I get more, faster)
- Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint)
- Possess positive interpersonal skills, and ability to work comfortably with staff, leaders and physicians at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively as a team player
Preferred
- Advanced degree
- 3-5 years external consulting experience with national or regional firm
- Extensive experience and proven track record working in highly matrixed organization
- Extensive experience working on projects that represent transformational changes touching a majority of departments in a complex health care system
- Relevant content expertise relevant to Pillar to support Project development and realization
- PMP or other program management certification
