BASIC FUNCTION:
The Executive Head of Commercial Banking provides sales, underwriting and operations leadership for our Commercial market segment, ensuring portfolio profitability and alignment with the Association’s credit risk appetite. Serves as a knowledge leader and resource in the area of sales, credit and/or related services, while ensuring the teams’ focus on providing a positive customer experience, proactive solutions, efficient and effective workflows through all aspects of relationship management. Works collaboratively with channel and functional leaders to establish scalable and efficient operations to enhance productivity and improve customer experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide leadership and guidance in relationship management and business development strategic approaches and techniques and takes lead role in ensuring team performance and development goals are aligned across regions and teams (including operations and underwriting).
- Develops, trains, coaches and mentors regional leadership for high performance, building strong teams and processes while motivating and inspiring team members.
- Responsible and empowered to make decisions regarding regional budgets, personnel needs, profitability metrics and incentive programs/payouts.
- Provide leadership, support and guidance in relationship management and sales enablement in conjunction with Head of Customer Strategy and Relationship Management.
- Collaborates with Head of Customer Strategy and Relationship Management and Head of Marketing to influence Brand and Marketing strategies and engagement to support business retention and development efforts in targeted markets. Fosters and supports collaboration of regional go-to-market teams with regional marketing teams.
- Accountable for appropriate channel profitability, effectively driven and supported by leadership and collaboration with direct and cross-functional leads (underwriting and operations) that ensures a culture that prudently balances sales efforts with the Association’s appetite as it relates to credit and operational.
- Promotes partnering across business lines to ensure overall effectiveness in referral handoffs to proper partner and/or product group
- Effectively reviews, approves, and recommends credit actions via the responsible and constructive utilization of delegated lending authority and as a member of designated loan committees.
- Represent the association in regional community and agricultural meetings, as needed.
- Serves as executive business expert and liaison for business lines on projects that support the associations go to market strategy with strong emphasis on leveraging data and digital applications to create a strong customer and employee experience while increasing the ability to generate sustainable and efficient growth.
- Perform other functions assigned.
LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Directly and indirectly supervises field staff including training and performance evaluations; makes independent decisions; works under general direction from the Chief Banking Officer.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in agriculture, finance, or business; or equivalent, with additional management training. Master’s degree in business administration is preferred.
- Ten years lending, credit, and sales experience. Experience in management of staff including the ability to develop and coach staff, and lead high-performance teams.
- Significant experience in credit underwriting, loan structuring, and operations management with enterprise view of delivery of credit and related products.
- Ability to work with others to achieve shared goals.
- Ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals.
- Knowledge of agricultural lending, industry standards, related policies and procedures, risk management, principles and practices, and agricultural economics.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and organizational management.
- Exceptional ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity. Balances competing priorities in reaching decisions.
- High level of objectivity, empathy and diplomacy to establish and maintain an effective on-going relationship between departments, customers, bank, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; persuasive and inspiring communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
- Ability to use software and information technology to collect, organize, retrieve, maintain and disseminate information. Ability to use technology in new or complex situations.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID:
These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.
PAY RANGE:
Minimum - $238,000.00 Max - $322,000.00
This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
