Overview of Open Door Ministries

Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Our primary objective is to move people toward self-sufficiency by helping change the circumstances and life patterns that have held them captive to poverty and addictions. Through 18 distinct programs,we focus on tangible needs like food, shelter, access to education and employment training, as well as intangible needs such as friendship, hope, and Christian spiritual guidance. Family Room Director

Supervisor: ODM Program Director
Hours: Full Time Position; 40 hours/week
Salary: Hourly, opportunity to raise additional salary available; Generous benefits package

Job purpose

As the Family Room Director, this position oversees the staff, BOSSes, and daily operations of the Family Room (FR).

Duties and responsibilities

Family Room Director

• Oversee the general operation of the Family Room (Open to the public 8-12, Monday-Saturday)
• Supervise/Manage Family Room Team: Help develop and implement strategy(ies) to maximize impact for ODM and ODF Staff and our constituency to create a healthy, respectful, affirming, safe environment for all using the space. Create a place of intersection for all of our ODM/ODF community. Encourage and train other FR staff in adopting said strategies and make them their own. Streamline process and procedures.
• Hold weekly team meetings for strategic planning/implementation of current and/or new programs, team building/development and behavioral issues within the community that need to be addressed.
• Hold daily team huddles that involve volunteers and Peer Support Specialists to ensure everyone is informed with necessary information for the day.
• Continue to develop BOSS program (Bringing Ownership w/ Superior Skills) strategy for FR, engaging FR friends in serving, discipleship, empowering, creating ownership of FR, church, etc.
• Collaborate with other community organizations to develop resource offerings (ie: Saturday breakfasts, occasional lunches, hygiene supplies, cold weather gear, etc.)
• Coordinate Christmas Giveaway
• Attend Open Door Fellowship or Westside Church Internacional for 24 times in first year of employment
• Attend chapel services (2-3/year)
• Attend Open Door Ministries staff meetings (one meeting and one training/month)
• Attend ODM Director’s meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, post graduate preferred
• Experience in urban ministry
• Experience in Staff Training and Staff Development
• Pastoral skills required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,220.00 - $70,620.00 per year
