Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Installation Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Installation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, terminating, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables, as well as configuring and troubleshooting network equipment. Your expertise in fiber installation, termination, and troubleshooting will be crucial in ensuring high-quality network connectivity and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
1. Fiber Installation: Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including homes, businesses, ISP networks, OSP installations, data centers, hubs, and POPs.
2. Termination and Testing: Perform termination and splicing of fiber optic cables, including fusion splicing and mechanical splicing. Conduct testing using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and power meter for loss measurement and troubleshooting.
3. Network Equipment Configuration: Configure and troubleshoot network equipment, including Juniper, Calix, and Cambium switches and access points. Ensure proper functionality and connectivity of network devices.
4. TCP/IP Networking: Possess strong knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP networking principles and protocols. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and perform necessary configuration changes.
5. Network Monitoring Systems: Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as LibreNMS and NetBox. Utilize these tools to monitor network performance, detect faults, and ensure optimal network operation.
6. Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers regarding fiber optic installations, network connectivity, and equipment configurations. Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities. Update documentation related to network designs, diagrams, and procedures.
8. Salesforce Integration: Utilize Salesforce CRM system to track customer interactions, manage work orders, and ensure effective communication and coordination with the sales and support teams.
9. Home Installations: Perform fiber optic installations in residential settings, ensuring neat and efficient cable routing and professional customer interaction.
10. Engineering and Design: Assist with engineering and design activities related to fiber optic installations, ISP networks, OSP installations, and data center operations. Contribute to the development of network infrastructure plans and designs.
Requirements:
1. Previous Experience: Proven experience in fiber optic installation, termination, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with OTDR and power meter testing for fault detection and loss measurement. Follow safety regulations when working with hazardous materials. Work in confined spaces and at heights.
2. Network Equipment: Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Juniper, Calix, and Cambium switches and access points.
3. Networking Skills: Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, including IP addressing, routing, and subnetting. Experience with VLANs, routing protocols, and firewall configurations.
4. Network Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with network monitoring systems such as LibreNMS and NetBox for performance monitoring and fault detection.
5. Customer Service: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with customers, addressing their concerns and resolving technical issues.
6. Documentation Skills: Detail-oriented with good documentation skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and update network documentation.
7. Salesforce and CRM: Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems for work order management and effective communication with sales and support teams.
8. Flexibility: Willingness to work in various environments, including residential, business, and data center settings. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
9. Certifications: Relevant certifications in fiber optics, network equipment, or networking (e.g., FOA CFOT, CCNA) are preferred. Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
