Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide photographic records.
  • Be able to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil drawings
  • Bea able to redline drawings and pictures using adobe acrobat
  • Track completed work, and assist in reviewing contractor’s progress payments
  • Provide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract change orders.
  • Notify the resident engineer of any observed non-conformances and assist in the issuance of non-conformance reports as required.
  • Participate in and/or conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling, and field staff meetings.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews, and contract closeout records.
  • Assist in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problems
  • Respond to complaints from the public.
  • Ensure that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, and ordered, and staff working on progress payments by verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates.
  • Maintain records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment, and progress for change order work.
  • Review change orders for implementation.
  • Make field measurements and maintain as-built drawing records.
  • Conduct and/or witness testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.
  • Report safety and traffic hazards, defective work, and debris to the contractor for correction.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Five years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection work, including two years of experience as a construction inspector working in an urban environment.
  • Familiarity with transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is helpful.
  • Knowledge of P25 radio systems is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to carry loads up to 50 lbs.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Excel and MSWord.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative team environment.
