ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE COUNSELING & FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERLighthouse is a full-service Counseling and Family Resource Center serving approximately 4,500 residents each year across Placer County. With offices in Lincoln, Roseville, and Auburn, Lighthouse has an excellent reputation for providing quality services to individuals and families suffering from trauma, anxiety and depression, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and other familial issues. We offer no-to-low-cost counseling, educational classes, and programs, and assist our clients in obtaining needed resources that help them through challenging times. In 2021, Lighthouse was named California Nonprofit of the Year. The organization has 20 dedicated staff members and a budget of $2.6M. POSITION SUMMARYThe Finance Director reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the organization’s leadership team. They are responsible for managing all fiscal functions of the organization including preparation of the annual budget, conducting financial analysis, and preparing financial reports. In addition, the Director handles all P & L, Payroll, AP/AR, Medi-Cal and other insurance billing, allocation of grant expenses and financial reporting, and funder donations. The Finance Director also staffs the Board of Directors’ finance and audit committees. This is primarily an on-site position with some work-from-home time negotiable. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES· Administer and review all financial activity and keep Executive Director and Board informed of the organization’s financial status making recommendations as needed.· Create and maintain excellent financial controls, policies, and procedures.· Manage organization cash flow and financial forecasting.· Prepare and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for nonprofits, ensuring timely annual filing of federal and state tax returns and statements, such as 990s.· Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet, and cash flow financial reports and submit monthly financial statements with analysis to Executive Director and Board Finance Committee.· Oversee and guide annual budgeting process; work with managers to develop department budgets.· Manage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records using QuickBooks.· Handle billing for county contracts, Medi-Cal, and private insurances.· Oversee all financial, project/program accounting for grants and funding and ensure fiscal compliance with all regulations and timely, accurate reporting.· Allocate expenses to contracts and grants using detailed spreadsheets.· Assist managers with the preparation of budgets for grant applications.· Ensure accurate and on-time processing of payroll and benefits including PTO accrual and retirement plans.· Coordinate annual audit process and work with outside auditors to ensure all audit issues are resolved and compliance issues are met.· Process charitable donations and checks received; create deposits.· Ensure accuracy, integrity, and credibility of all accounting records and financial statements.· Be knowledgeable of the organization’s programs and activities to effectively respond to volunteers, donors and team members.· Assist in onboarding new staff.· Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATEIn addition to being enthusiastically committed to the mission of Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, we are seeking candidates who most closely align with the following qualifications. · Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field or a combination of background and experience that would lead to being successful in the position; MBA and/or CPA a plus.· Significant experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years of nonprofit finance experience.· Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, finance, GAAP, auditing, budgeting, financial reporting, internal control systems, cash management, cost reporting, and Medi-Cal billing.· Minimum of 5 years of experience with payroll and benefits administration.· Robust knowledge of QuickBooks, proficient with MS Office, and comfortable learning new software.· Experience with grant and project accounting and reporting. · Nonprofit audit experience.· Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-accountants in written, verbal, and presentation formats.· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.· Experience working with nonprofits and volunteer boards of directors including staffing board committees.· Possess a strong work ethic; able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.· Adept in working independently with high attention to detail.· Able to establish and maintain positive, respectful working relationships with a diverse staff, board, client base, funders, and other stakeholders.· Consistently demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and maintain security and confidentiality of information.· Enthusiastically committed to the mission of Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center. COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe hiring salary range for the position is $120-$160K for a well-qualified candidate plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision; IRA match; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
