BEP has multiple brands that serve as produce management advisors to restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice operators. These companies assist with securing produce contracts, specifying produce quality, monitoring produce safety and other functions that make produce sourcing and purchasing more profitable for our clients. The Buyers Edge Platform Produce Operations team supports the sales and operating teams for both Produce Alliance and Fresh Concepts. Produce Alliance and Fresh Concepts are two produce management brands within the Buyers Edge Platform organization. This team combines technology and solutions to spark innovation to better support clients and key stakeholders by creating more efficient processes.

This role can be located near our Chicago, IL office or remote. We are unable to provide sponsorship for work authorization for this role.

We are seeking a Food Safety Specialist to join our growing Produce Management Team in servicing some of the nations' leading Restaurant & Food Service Brands!

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and coordinate food safety platforms to maintain document control
• Responsible for traceability data entry and program maintenance per SOPs
• Technical Audit Reviews
• Possibly Conduct Second Party Audits at Supplier or Distributor locations
• Assist in coordinating traceability projects
• Assist in continuous improvement of department and systems
• Responsible for filing emails and documents according to SOPs
• Assist Food Safety Director during Recalls/Market Withdrawals
• Report daily to-do list with updates on special projects and audit database status
• Manage and report on customer and supplier complaint management
• Attend and participate in department and company meetings
• Maintain strong, positive, professional relationships with Partners, Distributors, and Customers
• Adhere to Company's Policies, Programs and SOPs
• Maintain a professional image and atmosphere in the workplace.
• Maintain professional communication with all contacts within and outside of Produce Alliance

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a Food Safety or Quality Assurance roll, preferably in fresh produce. Positions in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, and/or related fields
• Knowledge of GFSI Standards and Audit Schemes
• Competency in one or more GFSI audit scheme, Primus, SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000
• Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations
• Knowledge of GS1 standards
• Business and professional acumen

• Computer skills: Competency in MS Office including proficiency in Excel
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to prioritize work and achieve agreed upon goals
