Job description
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fremont is looking for a Part Time or Full Time Front Desk Representative. Weekend shifts are mandatory, offering 16-32 hours per week. As a Front Desk Representative you will be responsible for greeting and registering guests, providing them with excellent customer service, as well as running day end reports and balancing all daily transactions. The following are the minimum requirements for the position: A minimum of two years previous customer service experience - knowledge of basic accounting helpful, but not required. Previous Hotel experience is required! Opera experience a plus! The ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays. Good computer skills. Excellent customer service skills. The ability to work with minimal supervision. The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Needs to have a flexible schedule along with being dependable and reliable.
Overview The Guest Service Agent is primarily responsible for the best possible care of the hotel guest. This includes checking the guest in and out of the hotel efficiently, quickly and courteously using the hotel's front office computer system, processing the payment provided by the guest according to established hotel policies and requirements and providing exceptional customer service to hotel guests and visitors in the course of daily business.
Job Requirements: Essential Job Functions * Knowledge of Opera is plus.
*Previous experience with a major franchise hotel is required.
* Check guests in and out of the hotel using the hotel's computer property management system, including the issuing of room keys and making certain that guests sign a registration card and provide a credit card or other acceptable means of payment.
* Run Night Audit and Close out Business Day
* File registration cards in the bucket by room number.
* Verify credit cards and checks according to hotel policy.
* Follow cash handling policies and procedures.
* Verify bank and deposit at end of shift.
* Resolve guest questions, requests and complaints quickly, efficiently and courteously.
* Log guest complaints in the Front Desk Log.
* Maintain, monitor, update and prepare room status and group information and requirements. Relay information to other departments as necessary.
* Follow standards of service and job performance for Front Desk department.
* Recognize and greet guests that pass the front desk.
* Answer phone promptly with the Hotel's accepted greeting, using proper phone etiquette.
* Knowledgeable of hotel rates.
* Knowledgeable of hotel room types, locations and amenities.
* Knowledgeable of brand marketing programs currently in effect.
* Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures and location of the hotel Safety Manual.
* Knowledgeable of protocols for reporting accidents, emergencies and incidents.
* Follow accident prevention policies.
* Maintain front desk area in a neat, clean and organized manner.
* Process reservations immediately and makes notes of any special guests' needs.
* Take room reservations for same day and future reservations.
* Accept responsibility for the front desk at the start of the shift, including counting cash drawer and reviewing the front desk log.
* Complete the bucket check, matching registration cards to the guest ledger and reporting any discrepancies to the Manager on Duty.
* Close out shift quickly at the end of the shift, reporting pertinent information in the front desk log, running the cash report, balancing the cash drawer and making the cash drop.
* Maintain constant communication with other departments, particularly housekeeping and maintenance regarding status of rooms.
* Give directions to and from the hotel from local attractions, etc.
* Make wake-up calls to guest rooms.
* Monitor and distribute guest faxes and messages.
* Follow posted work schedule.
* Employ hotel sales techniques to sell rooms and promote other hotel services, including using approved yield management strategies.
* Will be required to do minor maintenance work if needed. Plunge toilets, sink, change light bulbs, batteries, HVAC* Will be required to make fresh coffee daily if needed, clean and organize lobby and front desk.
This is an immediate opening. We are looking for someone that can start as soon as possible, must be fast learner. Shifts are from 7:00am-3:00pm, 12:00pm-8:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays. Must be fast, organized, honest, reliable, outspoken, fast learner, with good computer, phone transferring and able to deal with guests in a professional manner. Flexible schedule, dependable, reliable, Opera PMS experience a plus!
Hotel Experience is required for the job.
