McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products. Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.

Position Summary:

The fryer operator is responsible for ensuring that quality specifications for fried products are met by operating and maintaining the frying system, and associated line equipment, including blancher, dryer and associated lab tests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sets up, operates and adjusts blanching, drying and frying equipment as necessary. Monitors and adjust speeds and temperatures of blancher, dryer and fryers.
• Maintains cleanliness and 5’s of the fryer area. Cleans and sanitizes area per sanitation requirements, daily and standard clean-ups
• Controls sugar, SAPP and salt addition into the SAPP module system.
• Communicates problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor.
• Performs preventative maintenance and minor maintenance on machinery, including clean-Inspect-Detect inspection routes every shift and entering defects in the Defect Log.
• Knows and understands operation of ERS system and how to clean.

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required. One to three months’ related experience and/or training preferred.

• Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to perform these calculations using units of weight measurement, volume, time and distance.
• Ability to apply a reasonable person understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have the ability to read and understand data in spreadsheet form and draw reasonable conclusions based on that data.
• Required to complete certification through the operator training program.
• Must have the ability to create and comprehend documents using Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.

Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with little or no direct supervision

Physical Demand:

Frequently: Stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally: Sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; items exceeding 50 pounds require help from another individual or equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
