Glacier Fish Company is hiring a Galley Assistant to work aboard the F/T Alaska Ocean an at-sea processing vessel that fishes off the Coast of Washington and Oregon and the Bering Sea of Alaska. They maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of the galley area, clean dishes, pots and pans, and utensils, and restock all beverages, condiments, and food items.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for cleaning dining room and galley after each meal.
• Restocks beverage machines, condiments and coffee as necessary
• Cleans and mops dining room and galley after each meal and snack break
• Cleans and sanitizes galley tables after each meal and snack break
• Adheres to company and ADEC standards for food handling and hygiene
• Refills and rotates crew food items, dressings, sandwich items as directed.
• Washes dishes, pots and pans
• Restocks clean dishes and utensils
• Assists in setting out food for meals as directed
• Assists in serving meals from hot line to crew
• Promptly reports any broken or defective galley equipment to Chief Steward for repair
• Follows all manufacturer instructions in operating galley equipment
• Follows manufacturer instructions for use of cleaning chemicals

Physical Ability and Skills:

• Work 12 hours per day, 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditions
• Understand instructions and safety rules in English
• Board and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob's ladder
• Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders
• Be away from medical attention for up to 3 months
• Share spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas and bathrooms
