Our company is getting ready for major growth and is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable General Counsel to provide general legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance and oversee the legal matters of SES group of companies which is comprised of 15+ individual operating companies with 5 distinct business lines. In this role, you will oversee risk mitigation, litigation, and the drafting of policies, procedures, and legal documents. You should be a member in good standing with the state bar association, have a current license to practice law, and possess excellent negotiation, and communication skills. Responsibilities:
  • Manage outside lawyers hired to assist in case resolution, paralegals, and support staff
  • Complete extensive due diligence and complex legal research

  • Advise executive members on new laws, existing laws, and legal rights that would impact the functionality of the business
  • Anticipates and identifies legal issues and counsels the Executive and other upper management to develop legal strategies and solutions, often in situations of great political, public relations, or financial risk or significance, and with limited time for assessing alternatives
  • Manage REA claims process
  • Reviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues
  • Drafts, reviews, and approves policies and procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other legal documents

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited school of law
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
  • Active law license that is in good standing
  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney handling construction industry legal action
  • 5+ years of experience with overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience with corporate governance issues in the construction and related industries
  • Thorough understanding of the REA Claims process
  • Comprehensive understanding of OFFCP compliance requirement
