ICMS LLC, an innovative Professional and Technical services provider to the Federal Government, is seeking an experienced and multi skilled General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to join our team in support of one of our federal clients. This position is 100% onsite at a Federal Government facility. This is a Union position through the Teamsters Local 769 Union.

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Other duties include:

  • Keep accurate and complete records of all work, materials, supplies and document and record work status and details against Work Orders in the CMMS system.
  • Performs daily inspections of entire campus and building to determine if work orders/repairs are needed and report finding daily to supervisor
  • Performs routine operational maintenance of fire alarm systems, and all HVAC equipment
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance to schedules and as directed
  • Performs building exterior wall and roof repairs on all assigned buildings
  • Performs other skilled maintenance tasks as directed by supervisor
  • Performs manual labor including digging ditches, cutting brush, spraying grass and shrubs, general cleaning of buildings and grounds
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Keep up to date with current safety regulations and requirements
  • Work carefully to follow all current regulations
  • Communicate well with clients to ensure client satisfaction
  • Communicate well with team members and fellow employees

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience performing general maintenance on large complex buildings (commercial office preferred), the major duties of which include maintaining and/or repairing building systems
  • Candidates must be available to support on-call shifts as part of a rolling schedule
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Candidates will be required to pass and maintain a clean background investigation suitable for operating on a Federal Facility
  • Candidates will be subject to successfully passing drug screening prior to employment and random screening through their employment.

Physical Requirements:

The incumbent performs works primarily in a setting out of doors and must be able to frequently stand, walk, and sit during extended periods. These requirements are necessary to operate riding mowers to cut and trim grass, plant vegetation, rake, shovel, etc. He/she must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle, in order to load and unload materials and equipment; must be able to alert oneself to safety hazards and have a method of communication so that the individual and those around can understand and respond; must be able to see and tell colors, as driving and operating power equipment is required. Exposure to various temperatures and weather including snow, rain, wind, dust, dirt and the like. Vison and hearing must be within normal parameters with or without correction

Compensation:

The General Maintenance Worker is compensated at a rate of $32.29 per hour. This position is eligible for overtime compensation if required. Health and Welfare benefits are up to $1,265.00 per month. Employees receive an allowance for uniform shirts, pants, and footwear on an annual basis. Employees receive 56 hours of sick time, 11 Federal holidays, and are eligible for 88 hours of paid leave after one year of service.
