The primary role of this position is to manage short- and long-term commodity, contracts, and supplier management strategies supporting new product introductions, mechanical commodities (Metals & Plastics), Cable assemblies, PCBs, Packaging, MRO and VMI in-store goods. Develop commodity strategy roadmap with new and or existing suppliers; manage suppliers through objective measurements. Organize and negotiate supplier contracts. Ensures selected suppliers provide the best quality, delivery, cost and support available on the global market for assigned commodities. Coordinates with cross functional business unit leaders to ensure the assigned commodities are globally leveraged with primary and or new suppliers.

Primary or Major Responsibilities:

  • The Global Commodity Leader is responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies consistent with quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Assigned Commodities include but are not limited to all Mechanical (E.g., Metals & Plastics) assemblies, Cable assemblies, PCBs, Packaging, MRO & VMI in-store goods.
  • The Commodity Leader is responsible to support quoting new projects supporting the global quoting teams to best optimize new product introductions at quote stages to delivery best in price, delivery, and product performance.
  • This position is part of the Global Supply Chain, Sourcing team and will work remotely or hybrid.
  • Locate, negotiate with, and develop strategic suppliers globally to ensure continuous improvement in quality, delivery, inventory, cost, support, and technological capability.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and contract management to obtain best Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives
  • Build internal strategic partnerships across company including site operations, quote, procurement, quality, and operations teams.
  • Manage the transition of material or service to the most competitive global suppliers, ensuring continuous availability of material or service.
  • Maintain current knowledge regarding global market conditions affecting supply chain, develop and defend with data, corresponding strategies to ensure meeting policy deployment objectives.
  • Proficient utilization of web-based procurement tools and online bidding activity to ensure performance objectives are realized.
  • Monitors supplier performance holding suppliers accountable for performance levels.
  • Supports competitive quoting and source select new customer opportunities.
  • Lead process and product improvement projects.

OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other special projects and duties as required.

Safety:
Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in international manufacturing/ supply chain sourcing.
  • Strong track record of high-level negotiations and contract development/execution.
  • Intermediate to advanced competency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Bachelor’s degree in materials, business management, or supply chain management
  • Knowledge of supplier relationships, contract negotiations, JIT/demand flow philosophies, and legal issues involved with purchasing
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web-based procurement and online auction tools
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to, but not limited 25%. Must have a valid and active passport.

It is understood that certain minimum requirements are not tested for but monitored for competent capability during the employee’s indoctrination period.

This position is remote and based in the United States. We will only consider people living in the United States for this opportunity.
