Job Description

We are seeking a passionate facilitator of learning, who enjoys teaching in a student centered, inquiry based learning environment. The students, staff and administration of Assawompset Elementary School are excited to build our team of amazing educators. Within Assawompset Elementary School it is a place where educators promote the learning and growth of all students through instructional practices that establish high expectations while creating a safe and effective classroom environment. Additionally, all educators consistently and effectively collaborate with colleagues on a wide range of tasks such as implementing standards-based units and well-structured lessons, examining student work, analyzing student performance, and planning appropriate interventions.

Position Objective:
This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.

Responsibilities:
PRIMARY LOVE of teaching and learning, believing every child can learn,
be collaborative, bring joy and kindness to school each day
Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment; maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning.
Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and\or second language learners.
Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individual regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness.
Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

Social/Civic Expectations:
Freetown-Lakeville students will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work cooperatively.

Required Qualifications:
Massachusetts DESE license in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education
SEI Endorsement
BA Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in the content/grade area.
Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
Experience teaching students who are English language learners.
Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment.

Salary & Terms of Employment:
In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators’ Association contract. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
