*1.0 FTE is Full-Time, any position less than 1.0 FTE is Part-Time, and .001 FTE is Optional Part-Time*
*Positions with an "FTE" (full time equivalency) of .8 - 1.0 are eligible for full-time medical, dental and vision benefits. Positions with an "FTE" of .5 - .799 are eligible for part-time pro-rated medical, dental and vision benefits*
Shift: Shift 1 -
However, this position may require flexibility to facilitate support groups on evenings or weekends. This person may also be called in for support during mass casualty events.
Summary:
The Grief Services Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the hospital's grief services program. The Grief Services coordinator will also complete the following job standards in the role:
Job Standard 1: Supports the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of Froedtert Hospital
Job Standard 2: Visits patients and their families to provide one-on-one anticipatory grief support.
Job Standard 3: Participates in the development and maintenance of the grief services protocols including polices and procedures dealing with care of patients at or after the time of death.
Job Standard 4: Collaborates with hospital staff in the development and provision of end-of-life and bereavement education of medical, nursing and ancillary staff.
Job Standard 5: Coordinates aftercare programs and events, including follow-up with grieving family members, bereavement mailings, memorial services, and referrals to community bereavement services.
Job Standard 6: Ensures the collection and evaluation of relevant data pertaining to the implementation of grief services initiatives.
Job Standard 7: Participates in quality management measures and activities
Job Standard 8: Obtains and maintains a supply of a range of grief support literature.
Job Standard 9: Collaborates with nursing, social work, and spiritual services staff as needed to provide grief services to patients and families.
Job Standard 10: Provides support to staff related to grief and loss in the work place or personal loss
Job Standard 11: Works regularly with morgue staff and families to facilitate families obtaining the services of a funeral home for their deceased loved ones.
Qualifications:
A minimum of two years of professional grief and/or .bereavement experience is required.- Experience in trauma setting preferred
- Trauma-informed education is preferred
- A Master's degree in a related health care field is required.
- Evidence of continuing education in the field of grief and loss is required.
- Certification in Thanatology and a Fellow in Thanatology with Association for Death Education and Counseling is preferred.
