Role purpose

Lead the development of a soil health academy to include a technical curriculum for internal upskilling and an applied curriculum for farmers. The goals of this academy are to (1) provide cutting-edge fundamental and applied knowledge of soil health to Syngenta employees, (2) provide evidence-based practical training to growers across the world, and (3) enhance Syngenta’s reputation among farmers as a leader in soil health. The soil health curriculum will be delivered through a combination of on-line upsklling modules, hands-on workshops, and live training sessions. This role is available as flexible/remote, with ~20% global travel.

Accountabilities

• Lead the development and teaching of soil health curricula, courses, workshops, and programming.
• Identify specific educational needs across business units and regions, and develop custom programming to address them.
• Follow and share new scientific findings in soil health.
• Follow and apply new developments in pedagogical practice and learning tools.
• Contribute the development and communication of soil health science for a range of audiences.

• 
  Advanced scientific understanding of agronomic soil science and soil health related topics.
• Familiarity with the links between regenerative agriculture practices, soil health, and environmental and economic outcomes
• MS required, PhD preferred in soil science (or related); or equivalent experience
• Minimum 2 years teaching or extension experience related to soil health, or equivalent training.
• Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches and learning technology.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-country/matrix environment.
• Ability to effectively interact with farmers, scientists, and policymakers.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment

Leadership capabilities

• Ability to adapt quickly within a fast-paced and dynamic work unit.
• Ability to teach complex science to diverse stakeholders with a range of educational levels and familiarity with the topic
