As a Hospital Central Supply Technician, you'll play a crucial role in the inventory, decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, and tracking of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Your expertise and commitment to quality will be indispensable as you work independently, train others, and serve as a resource to Central Processing customers.
Your impressive responsibilities include:
- Adhering to hospital performance standards, policies, and procedures
- Decontaminating, cleaning, processing, and sterilizing supplies, instruments, and equipment
- Inspecting and maintaining sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and instrument decontamination washers
- Correctly assembling, protecting, wrapping, containerizing, and labeling instruments
- Handling and storing sterile supplies, equipment, and instruments
- Selecting appropriate sterilization methods and ensuring proper documentation
- Distributing medical and surgical supplies and equipment to customers
- Operating and maintaining Central Processing equipment, including sterilizers, cart washers, and ultrasonic cleaners
- Managing the ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating of surgical supplies
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
- Serving as a resource to customers on all Central Processing functions
- Transporting patients to and from the Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit
- Completing 10 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) annually
To qualify, you must have:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT), or grandfathered as per NYS Law
- Prior acute care experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with medical technology (preferred)
