Job Title: Receptionist/Host

Reporting to: Reception & Reservations Manager

Pay: $18-23 per hour + service charge

Scope and General Purpose:

To assist in the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective service, ensuring standards are maintained and customers’ needs are anticipated.

General Operations & Administration

  • Assist in the running of the Reservations Book, maximizing sales potential at all times, while fulfilling customer expectations and allowing for the maintenance of service standards
  • Make reservations in order to maximize the number of covers
  • Ensure the daily-duties and responsibilities of the reception team are completed to the highest standard in a timely fashion for every shift
  • Assist the Reception Manager with training and development of the team
  • Approach shifts and tasks with a positive, flexible, proactive attitude that results in efficient and effective problem-solving and service-delivery
  • Understand basic IT and telephone systems, in order to maintain service (SevenRooms knowledge preferred, Open Table knowledge preferred, Microsoft Suite, incl. emailing required)
  • Demonstrate a high standard of personal appearance, always wearing the complete and correct uniform and ensuring good personal hygiene and professional appearance at all times
  • Confirm reservations and control deposits
  • Communicate customer requests and preferences with the appropriate department
  • Run the cloakroom with efficiency and care for guests' belongings
  • Be fully aware of opening times and have full and up-to-date knowledge of restaurant products and services
  • Handle guest inquiries or requests, providing correct and accurate assistance or information that meets customer needs
  • Handle complaints promptly and professionally, demonstrating genuine care and concern, immediately alerting the appropriate senior team member Assist the floor when required in any way, at the request of the Senior Floor Staff
  • Assist the kitchen when required in any way at the request of the Senior Kitchen Staff
  • Complete all opening, closing, and shift requirements every shift
  • Ensure the reception area is kept clean and tidy at all times

Communication Greet all guests in a warm, courteous, and inviting manner

  • Acknowledge and bid farewell to all departing guests
  • Be prepared to answer questions about La Petite Maison and the origins of the company
  • Build up a rapport with regular customers
  • Promote, represent and maintain the LPM company image at times
  • Provide guests with the confidence that their belongings are held in a secure environment
  • Communicate any issues or ideas to the management team

Certificates

The State of Florida requires all employees who handle food and liquor to have a Food Handler and Responsible Vendor Certificate. Therefore, this certificate is a requirement for employment at LPM, and any expense incurred to obtain the certificate or to renew it is the responsibility of the employee. This certificate is necessary to work at any restaurant and is not for the exclusive use of LPM.

Physical Abilities

  • Exert physical effort in transporting up to 30 pounds
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work area
  • Remain in a stationary position for up to 4 hours throughout the work shift
  • Required to stand, stoop, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, lift, reach with hands and arms, talk to hear and taste or smell
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat
  • Work near moving mechanical parts
  • Able to handle medium to loud volume at restaurant

Special Requirements

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of the company
