Job description
Position Summary: The Housekeeping Support position requires demonstrated ability to maintain the physical environment in a clean, safe, and attractive condition in accordance with facility specifications.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Clean floors, including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, damp and/or wet mopping, stripping wax and disinfecting. • Clean and/or polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, heating, and cooling units, etc. in resident rooms, recreational areas and offices as instructed. • Clean, wash, sanitize and polish resident rooms and common area bathroom fixtures. • Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways. • Clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, disinfecting and spot extracting. • Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting and spot cleaning as instructed. • Clean offices, hallways, stairways, and elevator. • Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners, transport to dumpster. • Refill all soap, paper towel, feminine hygiene, and toilet tissue dispensers. • Maintain equipment in proper working condition and document and notify supervisor of all hazardous conditions or equipment. • Clean and properly store all equipment at the end of the shift. • Inform supervisor of supply needs. • Replace burned out light bulbs in work areas. • Maintain common area furniture in proper positions. • Clean vacant rooms as assigned. • Follow work and cleaning schedules.• Maintain infection control standards of practice. • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed. • Practices safe working habits. • Cross-train staff in the Laundry Department as instructed/needed.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a long-term care environment that has controlled heat and cold. The noise level is moderate to quiet.
Physical Demands: • Prolonged periods of standing, walking moving heavy furniture. • Position requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting. • Lifting and carrying items weighting up to 50 pounds. • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Education / Experience: • High School Diploma or equivalent.
