Position Summary

Housekeeping Technician (Part-Time)

Salary: Pay for this position is $10.00 per hour with no benefits available. Time worked per week will not exceed nineteen (19) hours. This is a part-time only position.

This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, the funding and duration of which is finite. Non-probationary status is not attainable by virtue of employment in this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Interviews will only be extended to applicants who meet the following minimum required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • One (1) year of full-time related experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to drive the College’s motorized vehicles, including the State cars.
  • Ability to operate small motorized equipment such as golf carts.
  • Ability to perform minor equipment repairs.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand oral and written information in English.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from supervisors, faculty, staff, students and the general public, and to meet the public in a friendly and receptive manner.
  • Ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness; must understand and follow all safety rules.
  • Ability to work a flexible, nonstandard work week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Operate cleaning equipment
  • Make general plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and equipment repairs.
  • Set up equipment, tables, chairs, and rearrange rooms for registration, graduation, and other special events, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
  • Routinely maintain facilities, to include replacement of light bulbs and air conditioning filters, floor waxing, and other minor repairs, as needed.
  • Report all other repairs to the supervisor.
  • Clean facilities by dusting furnishings; washing walls, door sills, floors and windows; vacuuming carpet, and cleaning ash trays.
  • Gather and dispose of trash.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms and keep them supplied with toiletries.
  • Fog and clean instructional classrooms and office space.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

INTERVIEW PROCESS:

The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and select applicants for interviews. Interviews may consist of the following activities: question/answer session and/or skills demonstration. Upon completion of the interviews, the Committee will recommend a finalist for the position to the appropriate dean and the President, after which final employment decisions will be made.

The College reserves the right to fill the position within one year of the stated anticipated starting date or not to fill the position due to budgetary or operational considerations. Further, the College reserves the right to fill more than one position in the same job classification should another vacancy occur during the search process.
