Join our team as a The HR Generalist in the Human Resources Department! The HR Generalist has an emphasis on employee performance, employee engagement, recruitment and new hire onboarding, but also carries out HR initiatives and serves as a back-up to team members. The successful candidate is self-motivated, possesses a sense of urgency and persistence and is willing to develop an understanding of the agency workforce’s needs and challenges.
The HR Generalist must be organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of professional ethics and sense of fairness and the ability to work with professionals at all levels. Flexibility is extremely important and, as a generalist, must rapidly shift from one HR function to another depending on the situation and serve as a backup to team members as needed. Excellent decision-making capabilities, understanding of aligning functional area goals to the agency’s HR strategic planning outcomes and ability to work effectively within a dynamic and fast paced environment.

The Expertise We're Looking For
You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fieldYou have two (2) years of experience in HR role (specialist, coordinator or generalist)

You are familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws, and best practices into conducting workplace investigations and developing policies.You are excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to establish credibility and rapport at all levels of an organization.
You have a high degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
You are excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
You demonstrate candor and poise to field difficult questions from teammates and leaders; ability to discuss difficult issues with candor and kindness.
You have strong consultative skills required to identify strategic objectives and to design/ lead of market-based solutions.
You are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
You have experience working with HR Information Systems
What you Deliver
You will provide day-to-day coaching to employees within the assigned program/s on a variety of actions to include but not limited to employee relations, policy interpretation and application, talent management and development; leave administration, etc.You will partner with program leadership to analyzes trends and metrics to develop HR solutions and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures
You will manage FMLA, Medical Leave of Absence (LOA), ADA accommodations and Worker's Compensation. Provides consultation on leave and accommodation policies and procedures. Tracks requests, gathers appropriate support documentation, and provides eligibility notifications and/or updates to supervisors and employees accordingly.
You will support HR department cycle deliverables to include annual performance management; wellness events; employee engagement, HR special projects; etc.
You will support HR Representatives in prepping, managing, and responding to all unemployment claims, cases and hearings
You will perform HR audits for the Agency - monthly, yearly, and bi-yearly to accurately ensure online employee files are up to date.
You will assist HR Representatives with projects, reports, correspondence, and other activities as requested and acts as a back up to other HR team members as needed.
You will perform other duties as assigned and participate in HR projects, travel to satellite offices.
