As a key enabler for our evolving, rapidly growing Rare Disease Business Unit, the HR Special Programs Lead helps to unlock the power of what science can do and ultimately have a huge impact on patients’ lives.
At Alexion, the RDU HR Special Programs Lead will play a key role in driving and delivering on our mission to transform the lives of people affected by rare and devastating diseases by leading RDU projects related to HR Strategy. This role will manage a wide and evolving array of HR strategic projects and RDU people focused initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of HR Strategy, Culture and Expansion, The HR Special Programs Lead will drive project initiatives on behalf of HRLT across all areas of HR and Culture in the RDU.
You will be responsible for
- Managing and providing programmatic support to a variety of RDU HR initiatives and programs
- Providing programmatic and strategic oversight to RDU New Hire orientation, including driving strategy, facilitating new hire, managing, and requesting speakers, and ensuring up to date content
- Delivering the global HR agenda, initiatives, and objectives year-over-year in support of the business
- Building relationships and collaborating with individuals across the RDU and AZ to deploy strategies to impact capabilities in innovation and leadership
- Driving high quality levels in all HR operations, ensuring consistency and accuracy of processes, data, and systems
- Working collaboratively with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Inclusion & Diversity, and Total Rewards colleagues to address business needs and ensure full alignment with global HR initiatives and goals

- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
- 5-7 years of Professional experience in a generalist project management or project support rôle
- In depth knowledge and expertise in employee experience practices and principles and knowledge of the business and industry
- Familiarity with diverse HR practices including rewards and recognition, talent acquisition, and HR operations
- Experience managing multiple complex projects at once
- Pharmaceutical Experience
- Experience working in a highly matrixed, fast paced, environment
- Bachelors Degree, advanced degree and/or professional certifications preferred
