Additional responsibilities for the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician will include:
General I/E Construction Skills. For example: The ability to layout, bend and install Aluminum conduit up to and including 1” diameter.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and systems:
Pressure Transmitters
Flow (Mass, Magnetic, Vortex)
Control Valves (Actuators, positioners, regulators, and transducers)
Analyzers (pH, ORP, Oxygen, conductivity)
Temperature transmitters and thermocouples
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Distributive Control Systems (Delta V DCS preferred)
Use of common test equipment (Multimeter, Megger, Loop Calibration, etc.)
Trouble shoot the following:
480VAC and below motor starters
120VAC power and lighting circuits
Switchgear and relays
Ability to connect and disconnect electrical motors, up to 2300V.
Good understanding of the National Electrical Code, latest edition.
Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Basics (Transformers, Switchgear, relays and capacitors). Power Generation experience a plus.
Ability to read electrical one-line drawings and instrument loop and ladder drawings.
General computer skills for industry.
Meet minimum fitness for duty requirements (ability to lift 50 lbs, climbing ladders, etc.) Ability to fill overtime and make call-outs.
Accountable for following safety procedures.Adhere to Safety policies that have been established, i.e., Stop Work Policy, Zero Tolerance Policy, etc.Adhere to the “Standards for Employee Conduct”.Participate in all departmental meetings.Meet annual Federally Mandated training requirements. Participate in behavior based observations.Train in emergency response.
May be exposed to wet or humid conditions; working near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; working around toxic or caustic chemicals; exposed to outdoor weather conditions (hot/cold) and exposure to vibration. Work in personal protective equipment.Work overtime when required.
Minimum Requirements:
Two plus years in instrumentation and electrical maintenance in an industrial plant setting
High school diploma or equivalent, plus years of I/E experience. Instrumentation Technology or Electrical Technology Certificate or degree from a recognized educational institute preferred.
