Yosemite Pathology (YP) is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology
and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable,
and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador,
Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne
counties.
YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology and histology services, including examination
of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an
extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic
and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist,
Cytotechnologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.
Summary/Objective
The Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Applications Specialist is responsible for oversight,
support, integration, and performance of the Information Systems used in the Laboratory. This
includes ensuring consistent processes and effective operations, maintenance, site parameters, and
security levels.
Essential Functions
- Monitors the daily performance of the LIS and provides necessary support for effective 24/7
operation.
- Creates and maintains all policies and procedures as they pertain to the LIS to ensure
compliance with CAP/CLIA.
- Collaborates with all lab departments and evaluates Laboratory workflows to ensure efficient
utilization and operation of the LIS.
- Provides Anatomic Pathology Laboratory operations and LIS subject matter build expertise.
- Establishes and maintains effective interfaces with instruments, software solutions, and other
information systems as applicable.
- Oversees projects pertaining to Laboratory application upgrades, changes, new Laboratory
tests/instruments, specimen tracking system, and digital Pathology systems.
- Functions as a project manager to ensure optimal workflow design and system build for
customization and optimization of the LIS while interacting with system and support vendors as
needed.
- Responsible for end-user training and support.
- Acts as a system Manager of the LIS and reviews/approves all change requests and testing
documentation.
Job Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Certification relevant to Information Technology and Laboratory Information
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Laboratory.
- ASCP Certification Preferred.
- Previous Laboratory Information Systems and EMR experience preferred.
- Orchard and CEREBRO experience a plus.
- Collaborate and communicate efficiently.
- Manage multiple projects effectively.
- Attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
- Knowledge of general laboratory processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Compensation and Benefits
- The compensation is $80,000 – $110,000 annually (exempt) paid semi-monthly on an eight (8)
candidate experience and expertise, geographic location of the role, and current market data.

Work Environment
This position operates in a laboratory environment and may involve frequent standing and exposure
to hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee
frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and
arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or
move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
