Job Requirements:


  • Inspecting rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane equipment, as well as various types of forklifts, with a primary focus on the service and repair of said equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel over 60% of the time. (Travel includes domestic and international locations)
  • Must have a strong background in electrical, drive train, engines, hydraulics, and computer-controlled systems
  • Will be able to work evenings and weekends for crane repairs in the shop.
  • Must be capable of communicating effectively and professionally with supervisors and other personnel.
  • Has at least 3 - 5 years of experience in the mechanical diagnosing, repairing, and maintenance of mobile crane equipment.
  • Able to read schematics (both hydraulic and electrical)
  • Must be able to perform competent inspections of all cranes
  • Full working knowledge of prohibitions, warnings, and cautions relative to assembling or disassembling each specific type of crane.
  • Familiar with the instructions and sequence of the crane’s assembly/disassembly per Bigge’s instructions or those provided by a qualified person
  • Have a good working knowledge and understanding of LHE’s (Load Handling Equipment such as cranes, gantry systems, etc.), rigging, and safe load handling procedures.
  • Knows the right questions to ask during the lift planning phase and understands the roles and responsibilities of the site supervisor, the LHE operator, the user, and the owner.
  • Build and implement a load-moving plan incorporating the proper field crews, which include riggers, signalpersons, and associated personnel.
  • Tap for information concerning engineering concerns, regulatory requirements, emergency action plans, equipment specialists, and vendors.
  • Keeps the 30,000 ft. view of the project at hand, yet has the capacity to get involved in any single detail using resources or personal knowledge.
  • Assists in the operation of the overhead crane and machinery
  • Operates motor vehicles

Educational Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Must have knowledge and competency regarding the OSHA requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of heavy lifting and heavy hauling technologies (mobile cranes, platform trailers, beam and dolly trailers, and hydraulic lifts and gantries).
  • Experience working with the following equipment:
    • Liebherr: LR 1160, LR 1200 SX, LR 1250, LR 1300 SX, LR 1400, LR 1750. Main boom, Luffer, and fixed jib
    • Link Belt: LS 238, LS 248
    • Terex/American: HC 165, HC 275
    • Manitowoc: 11000, 777, 888, 999, 2250, 14000, 16000, MLC 650
    • Kobelco: CK 1100G, CK 1600, CK 2000, CK 2750G
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience inspecting rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane construction equipment; vocational training may be considered in lieu of experience
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the inspection of mobile crane equipment
  • Perform annual certifications and inspections
  • Ability to perform tasks independently without direct supervision
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Computer literate with the ability to process information
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting various equipment lines, including Manitowoc, Grove, Terex, Tadano, Broderson, Kobelco, and Liebherr cranes
  • A history of safe work habits
  • Hard worker with a great attitude
  • Must supply own hand tools and keep up to date tool inventory of service truck
  • Have a clean driving record and can drive a company service truck. Must keep truck clean and maintained.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • A high school diploma is required, and higher education, including vocational training, is a plus.
