The Institutional Services Worker plays an important role in the Health Services Food and Nutrition Services division by preparing and distributing food. This job supports the Food and Nutrition division by performing various manual and technical tasks. There are multiple vacancies in Food and Nutrition Services!
Institutional Services Worker – Generalists work in the Environmental Services Department or Nutrition Services Department within the Health Services Division of Contra Costa County. They can also work in Juvenile Hall for the Probation Department. They perform janitorial or food services depending on where they are assigned. We currently have several job openings for food services positions within Health Services.

What you will typically be responsible for:
- Dishes up individual servings in kitchen or cafeteria lines
- Weighs and measures food portions
- Sets up patient food on the serving line, prepares diet nourishment and tube feeding mixtures
- Transports food and utensils by pushing a cart from the kitchen to patient rooms
- Loads, unloads, and cleans food carts
- Washes dishes, pots, and kitchen utensils by hand or by using mechanical equipment
- Sets up and maintains employee dining room
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors and spot cleans walls

License Required: Possession of a Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required at the Specialist and Lead Levels.
Experience:
Either one (1) year full-time or its equivalent experience in the class of Institutional Services Aide in Contra Costa County or one (1) year of full-time or its equivalent institutional cleaning or food service experience.

- Training and Experience Evaluation: (Weighted 100%) As part of the application, candidates must respond to the Training and Experience questions on the supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will be ranked on the eligible list based on their responses to these questions.
