Job description
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Summer Coding Instructor to join our team for a summer program. As a coding instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and guiding students in various coding languages and concepts. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and mentor aspiring young coders and help them develop their coding skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging coding lessons to students during the summer program.
- Teach coding languages and concepts, including but not limited to Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Scratch.
- Create and implement lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and levels of coding experience.
- Facilitate hands-on coding projects and activities to reinforce learning.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their coding skills.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of students during coding sessions and recreational activities.
- Collaborate with other instructors and program staff to coordinate curriculum and activities.
Qualifications:
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience, preferably in coding or computer science education.
- Passion for working with students and inspiring a love for coding and technology.
- Patience and the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Organizational skills to plan and execute coding lessons and projects effectively.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Knowledge of current coding trends, tools, and platforms is a plus.
This is a temporary position for the duration of the summer program. The hours and schedule for this position are Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00pm, running from June 2nd to July 28th.
