Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The PP2 Train 3 Instrument Engineer position exists in order to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources in the PP2 TRAIN 3 Unit. To ensure plant equipment reliability and add value by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, within the PP2 Train 3 Unit. While working with other maintenance craft departments and operations departments, to sustain a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Equipment Reliability: Provide Instrument Maintenance support to the PP2 TRAIN 3 Unit which will enable the Unit to achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. This will be achieved by utilizing industries best practices, bench marking, planning, abnormal analysis, initiation and maintenance procedures.
Maintenance Performance: Successful Maintenance performance will result in a reduction of unscheduled work and achieving 100% planned and scheduled maintenance activities. This includes communicating and working with PP2 TRAIN 3 Operations continuously to establish equipment criticality and providing standby equipment for critical equipment. Historical files shall be established and well-maintained to allow for correct diagnoses of equipment failures and performance of equipment maintenance.
Maintenance Support: Provide Instrument Support to Operations of the PP2 TRAIN 3 unit to ensure compliance with State and Federal Environmental Regulations. Provide Instrument Support to the PP2 TRAIN 3 unit with predictive maintenance and backup up programs to increase efficiency in the PP2 TRAIN 3 unit. Also, support the technician with instrument calibration and scheduling training to increase their knowledge, and any other activity assigned by the Unit Manager.
Lead and Facilitate: Review abnormalities with Instruments to improve the overall performance of the instruments in the PP2 TRAIN 3 unit. Work with other departments associated with PP2 TRAIN 3 to improve product quality and plant reliability.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
0 - 3 years of experience in instrument maintenance in a petro-chemical refinery environment preferred
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
Mathematical skills, computer skills, Microsoft Office, Basic Understanding of Electrical Circuits, Technical writing skills
3. Education
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering preferred
4. Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
- Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
- Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
