Position Overview:

The Inventory Management Technician will provide support to Operations from material planning through to purchasing activities that facilitate having the required inventory and non-inventory items available when needed to meet demand. The Inventory Management Technician works closely with demand planning, sourcing, purchasing, incoming quality, and warehouse to ensure the timely order placement, receipt, and availability of material required to support the firm weekly schedule for kitting, formulation, filling, label printing, labeling, and packaging. Provide forward projections of material replenishment requirements and partners with suppliers to assure sufficient lead time and supplier capacity is available for a reliable supply chain. Specific tasks include inventory management across the site to assure cost effective use of company owned inventory assets and alternative materials; firming, and releasing of material requirements interaction with the master scheduler, production planner and suppliers; expediting and managing deliveries; maintaining accurate delivery information on purchase orders and due dates on production job orders; generating and publishing status reports, such as purchase and production job order status, cost and shortage report status. The Inventory Management Technician position is a hands-on position responsible for material planning and the associated purchasing activities. The Inventory Management Technician will facilitate the resolution of physical to book inventory discrepancies that hinder the ability to support the production schedule, resolve supplier shipping and production job order quantity discrepancies, obtain pricing for low volume purchases and leverage QuVa's working capital in the form of material inventory to effectively support production operations. This position will work with the purchasing, material planner, production planner, other members of purchasing as well as receiving and accounts payables to help resolve invoice discrepancies on purchase orders. The incumbent must be able to work in collaboration with other members of the Supply Chain organization as well as other departmental functions such as Finance, IT, Quality, Operations, etc. while maintain accurate files and records and real time data in the Enterprise Resource Planning System. The Inventory Management Technician is a valued contributor to the company priority initiatives at the site, supports monitoring and reporting of performance through metrics, and continuous improvement projects as needed.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitors inventory to reduce waste, prevent production schedule changes/shortages/stoppages
  • Recommends adjustments to production schedule and/or alternative material usage to facilitate reliable and consistent production flow
  • Analyzes alternative materials to leverage total cost, increase supply reliability and minimize cycle time
  • Reviews planned orders, creates, and submits purchase orders to vendors based on the requirement from the MRP system
  • Assembles and analyzes data pertinent to inventory management, material planning, purchase history, vendor performance, performance to plan, and INFOR system transactional accuracy
  • Transmits and prioritizes approved purchase orders and supporting documents to supplier
  • Tracks order acknowledgement, prepares, and communicates shortage and backlog reports
  • Reviews, updates, and maintains purchase and production job orders. Tracks orders and confirms system lead times, delivery dates, and cost, where required
  • Ensures that materials are purchased in accordance with contracts, in accordance with all project specification requirements, and in accordance with required delivery schedules
  • Leads finance and logistics staff in resolving receiving and invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and reviews final invoices for payment approval
  • Request quotations from suppliers
  • Assist in product returns with supplier and in evaluating supplier performance
  • Review inventory levels and the systems used in determining forecasted need. Assist with determining operational minimum and maximum safety stock levels
  • Assist in cycle counts; monthly, quarterly, and annually, discrepancy resolution and inventory inspection
  • Assist in team meetings and training to support material planning for production
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required
  • Undergraduate degree or related field or equivalent experience, preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience in Supply Chain, Material Planning or Purchasing, or other relative work experience
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Experience with INFOR is a plus
