The Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact VISTA Community Corps program works to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. VISTAs in this program serve in community-campus partnerships that focus on improving health, education, or economic outcomes for low-income populations. Their projects focus on basic needs such as health care access, food access, housing assistance, financial education, and mental health support for college students and community members across our two states. Current sites include Augsburg University, BVU Lamberti Center for Rural Entrepreneurship, CARE Clinic, Catherine McAuley Center, Central College, Community Action Centers of Faribault and Northfield, Grinnell College, Hamline University, Hennepin Technical College, Mercy College of Health Sciences, North Hennepin Community College, Normandale Community College, St. Kate’s University, University of Iowa, UMN College of Pharmacy, UMN Morris, Willis Dady Emergency Shelter, and WellShare International. The VISTA Leader supports VISTA members by providing coaching, collaborating to create systems of support for VISTAs, organizing trainings, collecting data and stories about project outcomes, performing site visits, and recruiting new VISTAs. Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact is a nonprofit network of 58 member campuses committed to civic and community engagement in higher education.
Member Duties : The VISTA Leader supports the work of 15-20 VISTAs addressing health, education, or economic outcomes across Iowa & Minnesota. Duties include providing resources and coaching to VISTAs; developing in-service trainings; managing program communications including stories of impact, monthly newsletters, and regular email contact; honing program evaluation systems; performing recruitment and outreach; and generally supporting the IAMNCC AmeriCorps programs. The VISTA Leader participates in regular virtual and in-person site visits around both Iowa and Minnesota. While the position is mainly remote, some in-person events are required. Compensation: $1,534/month living allowance, $400/month housing stipend, $6,895 education award or $3,000 end of service stipend. MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ONE FULL-TIME AMERICORPS SERVICE TERM (VISTA or other AmeriCorps) TO APPLY. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers are also eligible. Start date negotiable. Open until filled.
