Job Description

The Utah State Department of Government Operations - Division of Technology Services (DTS) is looking for an experienced application developer with preference given for experience with Oracle Apex, Report, & PL/SQL Procedures, Restful Web Services, HTML, SQL, and CSS and Javascript, Postgres, React environments, to be assigned to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). UDOT is identified as one of the nation’s leading Transportation agencies, due in part to the innovative and supportive systems and applications utilized by the Agency. The chosen candidate will be a member of the enterprise application team reporting to the Technical Lead, providing technical support, development and maintenance for UDOT applications and infrastructure.

This position may be eligible for remote work (must live in Utah) with some in office time when required, located at Calvin Rampton Complex 4501 South 2700 West SLC, Utah.

Example of Duties

• Designs and develops the applications based upon user requirements and specifications assigned by the Business Technical Lead.
• Responsible for resolving technical issues with assigned applications and API’s.
• Tests individual programs (reports, windows, etc.) and provides system tests of modules.
• Develops technical documentation of the system and assists in the initial customer training.
• Works with Business Lead to ensure requests meet their needs through user testing and reviews.
• Submits all test and production turnovers to the Change Management personnel.
• Ensures that approved processes, policies, standards, objectives, deliverables, and defined requirements of DTS, Feds, UDOT and State are accomplished and adhered to. If there are any unresolved issues (e.g. desired exceptions from standards, policies etc.), the programmer follows up with the IT Software Development Manager until they are resolved and any exceptions or exemptions are approved by the person within DTS (typically the IT Director), and UDOT authorized person, to approve the exception before work continues. Read and understand the current applicable IT Standards and Policies relating to the project.

Typical Qualifications

Preferred experience with:

• Experience with Oracle Apex, Reports, and PL/SQL procedures

• Experience with Restful Web Services

• Experience with Javascript, HTML and CSS

• Experience working with JavaScript

• Experience with Postgres and SQL

• Experience with React and containers

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform

• Good analysis and research skills.

• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.

• Excellent organization skills required.
