Overview:
Performs IT support activities to address low to medium complexity IT issues for the Enterprise Service Desk and the Lincoln Nebraska manufacturing facilities under the supervision of the Sr. Supervisor, IT End User Services.

Major Position Responsibilities:
  • Provides in-person diagnosis, repair, and regular service and support for a multitude of systems including but not limited to: Desktop, laptop, mobile devices, workstation, server, switches / routers, VOIP/telephone, mobile devices, printers / copiers, and peripherals residing in offices, shop floor/manufacturing, data centers, and other areas.
  • Responsible for providing support for users experiencing Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity issues and other network authentication issues.
  • Responsible for managing the operating system lifecycle of all computers and mobile device by ensuring operating systems are configured according to policy, procedures, and work instructions. Ensures operating systems are updated and patched. Performs diagnosis to identify operating system issues and implements solutions according to policy.
  • Responsible for all installed desktop and laptop software. Ensures all software is approved for use prior to installation and licensed for use. Performs diagnosis to identify software issues and implements solutions according to policy.
  • Responsible for managing the lifecycle for all hardware following asset management guidelines, policies, and procedures. This includes setup and configuration of new hardware, regular maintenance, and support to ensure uptime and high availability of systems, decommission of retired systems according to policy, and maintaining accuracy of asset inventory data.
  • Provides support for enterprise management systems tools as well as site specific systems/tools by monitoring system performance, reporting outages or other issues preventing system access, working with users and subject matter experts to resolve issues with enterprise and local management system tools.
  • Manages requests for local system administrative privileges according to policy by reviewing requests for need, research/identify mitigation opportunities, process requests for authorization, and providing user training on proper use of administrative rights.
  • Provides support for video and other virtual conferencing systems by resolving user issues, managing access and licenses, and providing training as appropriate.
  • Provides support for third party desktop access certificates by working with users to transfer certificates, update certificates, install certificates, and resolve certificate issues.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and exp.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or A+ certification.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products, including MS Office 2007/2013, Internet Explorer 9 or higher, Windows XP, and Windows 7 & 8.
  • Should have working knowledge to support installations of Adobe software and an understanding of databases.
  • Prefer expience with Dell, Sun, NetApps, and Cisco hardware, Oracle and SQL database and Network topology knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills, priority setting/scheduling and team interface.
  • Working knowledge of desktop business applications software and hardware, GD- OTS enterprise applications and to the GD-OTS HelpDesk Support and reference knowledgebase is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.
