Summary
The Systems Administrator II position is primarily responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of key server/network components within ADC's infrastructure, as well as cloud based services and applications in a high security environment. In addition to administration of common Microsoft Server solutions, the Systems Administrator II position will be responsible for low-level management of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Citrix and Nutanix, and management of edge security such as firewall policies and UTM functionality. The position serves as an escalation point for issues the Help Desk team cannot resolve, and is therefore responsible for troubleshooting outages or issues with any production ADC system promptly. The Systems Administrator II may be involved in the implementation of new technologies or solutions within ADC's infrastructure, and will need to perform research, work with vendors, document changes, develop presentations, and manage time sensitive projects as part of a professional team. A willingness to learn new technologies/solutions and enhance your skill set is a must, as is working a knowledge of standard operations, procedures, and practices commonly associated with a secure corporate or government environment
Essential Tasks (minimum requirements) to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation
- Monitoring of system and service status at all times to minimize disruptions to business operations
- Administration of advanced Microsoft Server Solutions including Federated Services, DFS, Group Policy, Certificate Authority, DNS, NTFS Permissions and others
- Administration of Edge security devices including Firewall policies, UTM, NAT, Port Forwarding, VPN, Services and Objects
- Administration of Cloud Based services such as public DNS, Email Filtering, and cloud based Line of Business applications
- Administration of Virtualization platforms including VMware, Citrix, and Nutanix
- Administration of Layer 2/3 Networking Devices, VOIP phone system and supporting applications/services
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues escalated to the Infrastructure team in a timely manner
- Research, documentation, budgeting, and presentations related to new technologies/services implementation
- Provisioning and deploying new hardware/software/equipment and services within the environment
- Maintaining excellent customer service to ADC employees
- Acquiring and maintaining industry certifications and training as required
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2-3 years of experience configuring Layer 2/3 network devices including managed switches, routers and firewalls
- 3-5 years of experience maintaining an Active Directory domain environment
- 3-5 years of experience installing and maintaining Windows Desktop/Server OS, and common business applications
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms and concepts including VMware, Nutanix, Citrix or Hyper-V
- Working knowledge of advanced Microsoft Server solutions including Failover Clustering, Group Policy, Permissions, PKI and others
- Working knowledge of advanced networking concepts and practices including ACL's, VPN, packet capture, NAT, VLAN's, routing, addressing and subnetting
- Working knowledge of common IT procedures including ticketing, time tracking, documentation, communication and issue resolution
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not carry any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Employment is contingent upon the successful results of a background check and drug screen. In addition to the completion of a federal background investigation and while in the process of obtaining a Top Secret Clearance, must be able to obtain an interim clearance and/or appropriate agency approvals. Upon receipt of Top Secret clearance, must be able to maintain active Top Secret clearance and all agency approvals required of their position.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday, schedule to be determined between the core hours of 6:30 a.m. MST and 6:00 p.m. MST. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently be required to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer and using the phone. Moving equipment, lifting, bending, crawling and navigating tight spaces will sometimes be required
Probation
Six-month probation at start of initial employment and/or when position is new for the employee.
Travel
Some minimal travel may be required.
