Basic Qualifications:

1) Must be 18 years of age

2) Must be a H.S. graduate or equivalent (Diploma or Transcript), Valid Driver's License (No ID card will be accepted in lieu of a DL), Birth Certificate and SS card. The documents must be with applicant at time of the interview.

4) Must not have any criminal convictions above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the last 10 years and will be required to provide a disposition (Final outcome of an arrest or prosecution). It is not the responsibility of the Recruiter to acquire a disposition for applicants.

5) A drug test and psychological examination will be conducted paid for by Bowie County.

Duties of the Jailer include:

(a) Supervises inmates in living areas and recreational activities. Supervises inmates and visitors in visitation areas.
(b) Serves as control center officer, coordinates and monitors inmate movements, conduct counts, and provides emergency response.
(c) Serves as mailroom, field tower, medical security, perimeter security, and/or gate officer as required.
(d) Provides security in treatment activities and supervises labor crews in the kitchen and other specialized areas.
(e) Ensures prompt and appropriate assistance to inmates in the event of injury, illness, and emotional trauma.
(f) Prepares reports and maintains daily logs as required.
(g) Initiates disciplinary reports.
(h) Conduct shakedown for contraband materials, either individually or as part of a specialized team.
(i) Promotes facility cleanliness and reports need for maintenance and/or repairs.
(j) Serves as a member of special teams to respond to disturbances and critical incidents.
(k) Performs other duties as required.

Pertinent Information:

• Pay is $33,266.60 plus OT
• Pay is every other Monday
• Shift schedules are 12 hours: 7am-7pm/7pm-7am
• Work 2 on,3 off,3 on and 2 off. Off every other Friday-Saturday-Sunday
• Facility is AIR CONDITIONED
• Medium Custody facility
• Uniforms are provided
• Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance

Captain: $50, 454.82

Major: $58,189.16
