The Public Schools of Brookline is seeking two K-8 music teachers to begin at the start of the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking to fill one full time (1.0FTE) position and one 0.9FTE position with a possible additional 0.1FTE pending final sectioning. We are seeking enthusiastic and committed music teachers who will be responsible for teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade general music classes, and one or multiple 5th through 8th grade Conservatory classes, which could include Chorus, Guitar/Ukulele class, Music Production or Music Exploration class.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Experience teaching singing and general music, music literacy, song games and music and movement activities at the elementary level.
• Experience teaching elementary level general music class instruments, such as xylophones, recorders, etc.
• Some knowledge of and experience teaching takadimi or a similar music literacy system and solfege.
• Ability to differentiate the curriculum to reach and support all students.
• Is a team player, works well with colleagues within and beyond the Music and Performing Arts department.

Preference is also given to candidates with piano and/or guitar accompanying ability or experience on another accompaniment instrument (though our 5th grade and 6-8 choruses have a piano accompanist).

In your cover letter, please outline both your prior teaching experience (in music and any other area) and what you would bring to this position and our schools, as well as any other related experience you wish to share. Please also include your primary instrument (including voice) and all secondary instruments (including voice) and your proficiency level on each. Please also include if you have any guitar and/or ukulele experience, any music technology experience, in particular using Digital Audio Workstations such as Soundtrap, Garage Band, Logic, etc., and if you have any experience directing school bands and/or orchestras.
