Are you ready for new and exciting challenges that are meaningful? Come join our L&I team as an Office Assistant 3 (OA3) in our Administrative Services department. In this important role, you will further the agency's mission of Keeping Washington Safe and Working by providing mail services to internal and external customers through the timely delivery of mail. Without a doubt, this role is vital to the agency’s day to day operations.

To give you a snap shot into this key role, you will be providing exceptional customer service to internal and external Mail Services customers. Primarily, you will be responsible for picking up, receiving, accurately sorting, processing, and delivering United States Postal Service (USPS), Interagency/Campus, and Express mail in a timely manner.

In addition, you will prepare mail for internal floor runs, where you will also pick up outgoing mail and will consolidate, apply cost codes, and organize the mail for pick up by Consolidated Mail Services.

Part of this role manages incoming payments to the agency. You will open and screen all mail for checks, cash, and returned warrants and ensure they are secured, accounted for, and delivered to the Cashier’s or Warrant desk per agency policy and guidelines. This position is critical to the performance of the Department and the delivery of quality services to the citizens of Washington State.


Duties

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Open, screen, and apply decision reasoning to properly sort 3 million pieces of incoming Claims, Bills, and Self Insurance mail a year.
  • Prepare mail with monies for the Cash and Receipting System (CARS) and the Return Warrant Tracking System.
  • Pickup mail from internal customers for internal and external delivery.
  • Assist Mail Services driver as back up driver
  • And much more!

Qualifications

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year experience performing a full range of clerical, mail clerk, mail carrier duties or any combination of training and experience that would provide the required qualifications.
  • Type 35 wpm with 95% accuracy (skills assessment required).
  • Responsible; dependable; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Manual dexterity
  • A valid unrestricted driver’s license

DESIRED:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexibility regarding work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate with and assist a wide variety of individuals (internal staff, general public, business professionals).
