Position Title: Lab Inspector
Location: This position requires residency in the Carson City area (Northern Nevada) and will be working remotely for the foreseeable future, but will require in-office attendance twice a week.

The CDC Foundation is seeking a Lab inspector who will perform on-site and off-site State of Nevada laboratory inspections to ensure laboratory compliance with State and Federal regulations and requirements. The Lab Inspector will also be required to complete all required inspection activity documents in accordance with regulations, statutes, and policies and procedures as applicable. The Lab Inspector will serve as a resource for and provide information and education to community members and laboratory personnel to improve the quality of care and assure compliance. The Lab Inspector will establish and maintain an effective working relationship and positive communication with the public as well as the collaboration with associated agencies and departments. The Lab Inspector will be required to meet defined deadlines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical or Biological Sciences
- State of Nevada General Supervisor License
- Valid Driver’s License
- Pre-employment criminal history background
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Word programs
- Time Management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Performing On-site and off-site laboratory inspections to ensure compliance with State and Federal laboratory requirements
- Responding to email and phone inquiries regarding Nevada regulatory and/or statutory laboratory requirements
- Working knowledge of State and Federal laboratory requirements found in the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 652, the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 652 and the federal CLIA requirements found in 42 CFR 493
- Maintaining General Supervisor license requirements found in the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 652.410
- Reliable transportation is necessary for transportation to and from home to the office and to scheduled laboratory inspection sites.
- Licensed and unlicensed laboratory complaint investigations for alleged regulatory or statutory non-compliance
- This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, in order to best support the State of Nevada in their public health programming.
- This position is currently a hybrid position requiring in-office and remote attendance. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
- This position requires the regular operation of a motor vehicle during the course and scope of employment as an essential function of the job. As such, Employees in this position must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence, must self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions, and must provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage with mandatory minimum coverages as set forth within the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy (“Policy”). All offers of employment and continued employment for this position are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications of this Policy.
