In collaboration with other business leaders, the Labor Relations Manager will implement the organization’s strategy to establish and maintain positive labor relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

In collaboration with other business leaders, develops and implements the organization’s strategy to establish and maintain positive labor relations.

Manages the collective bargaining process by consulting on and developing effective bargaining strategies when negotiating multiple agreements with unions

Works closely with project teams and Human Resources to resolve issues and disputes.

Prepares and represents the company throughout the grievance and arbitration processes, along with other labor negotiation proceedings.

Acts as subject matter expert for the handling of all labor/management issues. Partners closely with Human Resources on employment matters impacting labor relations. Helps to establish and develop policies and practices that relate to labor relations within the company.

Fosters relationships with union leadership at the local and international levels by regularly meeting with business agents and business managers.

Understands and studies labor availability and labor quality, as evaluated during the estimating, preconstruction, and construction stages.

Reviews collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and work assignment during the estimating phase and informs the estimating group of any issues.

Supports client and project development teams with the formation and negotiation of union Project Agreements (e.g., NMA, PLA, NCA, Local or client-driven Agreements).

Participates in EPC projects, which may include assisting with training and development, process enhancements, organizational development, communication and implementation of policies or other initiatives that affect and/or impact labor relations matters.

In coordination with Human Resources, monitors and reports on current labor relations related case law and regulatory changes that may affect the organization.

Partners with human resources, mechanical construction, and electrical & instrumentation in the recruitment of site superintendents and maintains relationships throughout recruiting process. Assists with the selection of candidates based on skills, abilities, and leadership.

Participates in onboarding training as needed and recommends training development opportunities impacting labor relations.

Participates in community, business related activities and events to stay abreast of industry updates and relations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.

Travel:
This position is required to travel a minimum of 50% to jobsites and business-related functions and events. Willingness to travel to specific locations at required times is required. Occasional requirement to travel to a location with limited notice.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial or Organizational Psychology, Construction, Engineering, Management or related field with at least ten years of experience in construction and direct or indirect supervision; or at least fifteen years related experience and/or training.

At least five years of experience in industrial construction management within the union trades

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Explorer Internet Software, MS Office with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Other Qualifications:
Must be available to travel approximately 50% to sites not yet determined.

Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.

Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.

Ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
