M Health Fairview is looking for a Phlebotomist (Laboratory Care Technician) at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-West Bank. This is a 0.8 FTE full-time, 8-hour Evening shift position, 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm, 3 out of 6 weekends.

This position is eligible for a Sign-On bonus of up to $4,000 (pro-rated based on FTE) and a shift retention bonus of up to $ 1000 paid out every six months.

The University of Minnesota Medical Center Acute Laboratories performs clinical hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine, and blood collection and processing. The West Bank Acute Care Laboratory serves a variety of pediatric and adult patients. The Acute Care team consists of 100 employees, and the laboratory is staffed 24hours a day, 7 days a week.

Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families, and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals.

Following established guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures, prioritizing work to achieve optimal patient outcomes, information Processing, maintaining a safe work environment, demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Other duties may be assigned.

Required

• At least 18 years of age

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-
• Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-
• Enrollment in final year of MLT or MLS program.

• Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting

• Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity
