Petroleum laboratory in Carson is looking for someone to join their team! Opportunity to work with a growing laboratory and gain experience with chemistry testing. NO DEGREE REQUIRED. CHEMSITRY / CHEMICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE.

*LABORATORY EXPOSURE IS REQUIRED*

**30 HOURS A WEEK (WITH OPPORTUNITY FOR FULL TIME DOWN THE ROAD) WEEKEND AVAILABILITY REQUIRED**

Primary Purpose

• Field based Laboratory technician for a Petroleum laboratory Technician will be responsible for testing gasoline and distillate petroleum products, report results to Operations, and maintain laboratory safety and integrity per company policy and regulations.
• Technician will be working Weekends and a half day during the week.
• Fill in for vacations as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analyze samples in accordance with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures and supply data in a timely manner to internal and external customers.
• Test various petroleum products including but not limited to: Gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel.
• Perform methods and procedures in accordance to in-house SOP and ASTM methods including but not limited to: D5191, D4052, D7536, D86, D7094, D5972, D93, D4007, D4928, and D56.
• Perform SQC analysis and ensure any failures are recorded, investigated, and reported to appropriate Supervisor or Manager site.
• Maintain laboratory integrity and apply proper housekeeping procedures.
• Ensure that laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated and meets required performance expectations.
• Perform minor checks on instruments and inform Associate Chemist when issues are beyond the scope of the individual.
• Review and understand results pertaining to the product tested and report any abnormal observations to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure sure laboratory chemicals and consumable inventory are fully stocked, labeled, and stored in assigned location per the Safety Data Sheet.
• Dispose waste and hazardous materials in appropriate containers as determined by the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Work closely with Operations personnel.
• Communicate in a professional manner.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
