- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- Hire Pay: $10-$12
- Classification: Full Time
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The landscaper will be responsible for ensuring that the landscaper of the institution is both functional and aesthetically pleasing by maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, stair paths, retaining walls, and turf. As well as, maintaining the condition of the greenery by using insecticides, chemical sprays, fertilizers, and keeping the grounds free of trash.
JOB SUMMARY:
The responsibilities of a landscaper include, but are not limited to:
- Gather and remove litter.
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
- Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
- Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
- Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
- sing hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Clean facilities or sites.
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
- Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
- SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from the site manager. The position has formally assigned supervisory responsibility and authority. Must complete jobs without constant supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The principal duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment, with high and low temperatures.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING POLICY:
This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing. DLP Staffing has a Drug Free Workplace Policy which includes Post-Accident Testing, Random Testing, and/or Reasonable Suspicion Testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Other: Valid Drivers’ License Class C
