Join the team! Serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Centro Latino of Danville.

The KyCC VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program places VISTA members throughout the Commonwealth to combat poverty and build capacity in community organizations, Kentucky colleges and universities, the Appalachian Region and the Kentucky Promise Zone.

Position Description

Latino Advocacy Coordinator:

Centro Latino’s mission is to work towards the inclusion of Spanish speakers in the Central Kentucky communities and to advocate for access to educational and health-care resources, and social justice. The VISTA member will work to strengthen Centro Latino’s presence in the surrounding community by establishing new partnerships with existing human service community organizations, and identifying and connecting with key community leaders.

Qualifications

• HS Degree/GED
• 18+ years old
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision
• Background check required

VISTA Terms & Benefits

• Full-time (40 hours/week), one-year commitment
• Monthly living allowance of $1,350 per month
