Mill Creek Cooperative Preschool (MCCP) seeks a nurturing, motivated, independent and creative lead teacher to join our preschool community. MCCP is a not-for-profit, play-based school run by preschool board members with support from our teachers and the Edmonds College (EdC) Family Life Education Department (FLED).

We are seeking a lead teacher for our 2s for our preschool program. Class times are:

• 2’s Class: Tues / Thurs, 9:15 - 11:15am

A typical week for our teachers includes class time, classroom set-up/clean-up, prep time, and required monthly evening board, teacher and member meetings. We have one lead teacher in each class that is assisted by parents. Our school follows Everett
Public Schools calendar for holidays.

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum associate’s degree (or currently working toward it)
• Prior experience in early childhood education and teaching preschool; experience in Co-op setting preferred
• Experience with engaging, objective-driven curriculum and emotion coaching
• Experience working/collaborating with parents and caregivers
• Experience planning and leading a class independently preferred
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification required

Desired Attributes:

• Ability to plan and lead class independently; you will be assisted by parents during class meeting time only
• Broad understanding of play-based curriculum
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers and FLED instructors
• Ability to guide caregivers/parents in the classroom acting as the teacher assistants

Responsibilities:

• Plans and prepares developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum, including daily activities that are engaging and varied throughout the year
• Maintains a balanced daily schedule including creative, physical, social, free-choice, and group activities that are interactive, hands-on and enhance students’ independence

• Interacts and participates in activities with the children during class time
• Serves as a model for best practice interactions with young children and implements positive discipline in the classroom
• Works cooperatively with MCCP’s other teacher(s) to develop monthly themes, share classroom space and manage supply inventory
• Establishes classroom workstation responsibilities for working parents/caregivers
• Ability to physically move small furniture and materials during classroom set-up and take-down
• Attends monthly board and member meetings:

• Board meetings are held on the first Monday of each month from 7-9pm
• Member meetings are held on the second Monday of each month from 7-9pm
• Attends monthly teacher planning meetings at EdC, along with member orientation, classroom set-up, member events and other scheduled activities as required.

Compensation: $17-20/hr commensurate with education and experience. Includes paid time off and professional development reimbursement.
