SUMMARY
A brand new, premier and senior living community located in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced Line Cook to join their team! We are looking for someone to prepare food to the chef’s exact specifications and to set up stations for the menu. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report, and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition, sanitation, and safety regulations
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age
- Must take the ABC board safe service online course (within 90 days)
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively with supervisor and staff members
- Experience in the bar, and can handle stressful environments (preferred but not required)
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public
- Must be able to interpret and implement written or oral programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Food and Beverage Department
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule (30 Plus hours a week)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook, or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, walk, and stand intermittently throughout the workday. May be exposed to hot/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage areas.
- Noise levels may be above normal in the work environment.
- Subject to falls, cuts, burns from equipment and hot foods, infectious diseases, odors, etc. throughout the workday.
- Exposed to wet floor in the dish room.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May occasionally lift or move items of up to 50 pounds.
- An employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
