Looking for full time line cooks to fill for our Panda venue. Permanents only; 40 hours a week
Shift: 12:30pm-9pm
Under the general supervision of Management, will prepare, cook and serve all designated menu items. This is to be done according to recipe, verbal direction, proper ratios, proper cooking methods and techniques. Has working knowledge of all standard kitchen equipment.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
· Uses all necessary equipment and tools available in accurately produce menu items with proper techniques, methods and ratios. While maintaining at all times:
o A knowledge of proper cooking techniques including, Grilling, Broiling, Deep Frying, pan Frying, Sauté, Roasting, Baking, Steaming, Deep Poach, Shallow Poach, Braising, Stewing and all Soup methods.
o Display proper knife skills and safety. According to written policies.
o Sanitation and food safety procedures. According to written policies.
o Comply with nutrition guidelines and standardized recipes.
· Following recipes, prepares food for cooking. This includes measuring and mixing ingredients, chopping, dicing, or grinding of meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, cheeses, fruits, or other related items, and assembles according to recipe.
· Mixes salads and makes desserts, dressings and breads. Prepares hot and cold beverages and special menu foods. Slices meats and cheeses, makes sandwiches, assembles fruit plates and relish trays, cleans and cuts vegetables and meats before cooking and mixing.
· Occasionally sets up food lines, portions food on serving lines, sets up trays and carts, packs food for delivery to dining areas and storage.
· May be required to work in multiple areas throughout the operation including but not limited to cold food prep, hot food prep, serving, receiver assistant, ware washing, and janitorial.
· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
· Assist in maintaining required production records.
· Continuing development of core team building skills including listening, mentoring and verbal communication.
· Cleans and sanitizes all work area, equipment and utensils, before, during and after each assigned project.
· May be required to work in branded and/or franchised operations only.
· May provide functional guidance to student workers as directed by Sous Chef or Lead Cook.
· Continuous standing. May work early, late or rotating shifts and every other weekend.
· Follows HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply. Knows and practices principals of food sanitation, personal health and cleanliness, time management, fire prevention, OSHA safety standards, accident prevention, theft prevention and recycling practices.
· Know and adhere to recycling practices and production waste management.
· Safeguards all storage areas by locking each after use as directed.
· ServSafe® certification required or ability to obtain certification.
· Knows and adheres to Bowling Green State University and BGSU Dining rules and regulations.
· Communicates positive values to staff and customers through actions, provides high quality customer service.
· Support the mission, core values and practices of BGSU.
· Deals with emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma required, or 6 months to 1 year equivalent experience.
· Ability to carry out simple instructions; read and write English; copy and record figures.
· Perform recipe conversions, weigh products, and answer routine telephone inquiries.
· Knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to lift up to 65 pounds (lbs.).
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Ability to stand for entire scheduled shift - may be between 8 and 9 hours.
· Pleasant, congenial personality, with good interpersonal communication skills.
· Clean, well-groomed, neat appearance necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.52 - $16.22 per hour
