Job description
Under CFR's Prevention Programs Youth (PPY), Guy Talk is a sexual risk avoidance education program in Pima County that that teaches youth participants the benefits of making healthy decisions in regards to relationships, sexual values, risky sexual behaviors, STI/pregnancy prevention, and drugs & alcohol–and their impact on relationships. Additionally, youth gain an understanding of how socio-culture, family and life influence financial and educational behavior and decisions. Youth learn new insights to improve relationships, while also developing leadership, self-regulation, and communication skills that will assist them in preparing for their future.
This position provides administrative support to the program director and program staff. Duties entail clerical and
administrative support, representing the program in the community as well as ongoing interaction with program partners
and participants, facilitating interactive learning utilizing program curriculum and project-based functions including arranging meetings, handling information requests, preparing reports, workshop recruitment, ordering program materials and supplies and corresponding with clients. Position also supports the development and coordination of the program. Prevention specialist will receive training and ongoing support, skill building and best practice training with the other programs in the Prevention Program for Youth Department. Some evening and weekend hours required.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitates classes and workshops utilizing evidence-based program curriculum and activities with a strong emphasis on program fidelity.
- Creates a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for both youth and adults while using a trauma-informed approach.
- Provides accurate and age-appropriate responses to participant questions.
- Offers participants the opportunity to ask questions during breaks and after sessions.
- Responsible for planning, promoting, and directing a schedule of activities for weekly sessions.
- Leads and instructs activities
- Completes necessary paperwork and turns it in on time.
- Reports problems and recommends actions to the Program Director.
- Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides ongoing administrative support to the Program Director and program staff including preparing and editing presentations, analyzing and compiling data, and creating reports.
- Schedules and coordinates meetings and events including notification of attendees, preparing and distributing agendas, securing facilities, and ordering food and supplies when needed.
- Develop and implement an outreach plan to recruit participants according to specific goals
- Assist Project Manager with the recruitment of new program sites.
- Respond to incoming calls related to program referrals and coordination.

- Refer and track youth and families to community support and treatment services
- Lead and instruct activities.
- Complete necessary paperwork and turn it in on time.
- Report problems and recommend actions to Project Manager.
- Maintain safety and discipline of the participants during the program.
- Supervise and care for equipment.
- Document incidents as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of program participants.
- Prepare the meeting room for the session and restores the room at the conclusion of the session.
- Inform program assistant of needed supplies.
- Obtain required training in curriculum, data collection and other identified opportunities.
- Contribute to the program by sharing best practices and successful approaches.
- Assist the Program Director, particularly in the area of building and maintaining relationships in the community.
- Participate in community events, activities, and conferences, as needed.
- Provide support with recruitment, tabling and attending recruitment opportunities as needed.
- Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or at least 1 year directly related experience working directly with youth as equivalence.
- At least 1-year experience as a group facilitator and working knowledge of classroom management techniques preferably working with both adults and youth.
- Knowledge of sexual health, trauma informed approaches, positive youth development, youth-friendly referrals, classroom management, LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity, Mandatory Reporting, and other components critical to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth preferred (for sexual education grants)
- Knowledge of adolescent development and effective prevention strategies in the fields of suicide, substance use, school dropout, and violence including bullying preferred.
- Excellent communication and writing skills. Exercises discretion in acquiring and disseminating confidential and proprietary information.
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to effectively work with the general public, clients and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of database management systems.
- Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work with people from various cultural backgrounds.
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
- Meets department performance/productivity standards.
- Must be able to be certified in CPR/First Aid.
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean MVR report, insurance and vehicle and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 39 months.
- Must be eligible and able to obtain a Class 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Office and facility-based work with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage.
- Must be able to climb stairs and move through a facility.
- Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Sitting for extended periods of time daily; standing and walking short distances.
- Moderate twisting, bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds in the performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment and machines as referenced.
- Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required.
- Repeated hand-wrist movement required.
