Job description
Within the spirit of “Making Dreams Come True”, the main purpose of this position is to assist the machine operator I with newspaper production. (Machine set-up and run).
This position is located at the Phillip J. Markward Production Facility in Sumterville, Florida.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment set-up, run and maintain.
- Positions correct products for packaging operation.
- Insert verification- Paperwork to document the run.
- Performs regular preventative maintenance tasks.
- Assisting in training of new staffers.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience as Inserter I; or other position requiring strong mechanical abilities.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; repetitive motion, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and/or constantly up to 20 pounds.
- Employee required to move equipment or pallets by operating power industrial equipment and/or pallet jack.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, heights, potential energy and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, oils, airborne particles, chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
